The meaning of Pride and Prejudice is rooted in issues of identity, representation, and self-determination. These images were created in response to the 2016 presidential election cycle and the discovery of an old manuscript at an antique market. The tone of the election and the anecdotes in the manuscript both sought to control the identity and status of the "other" while seeking to normalize hatred through erroneous representation and a disregard for the value of human life. Creating this series became a way for me to push back and voice opposition as well as commune with my ancestors and honor their strength, sacrifice, and perseverance.
